On his visit to Assam, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off three new trains from Guwahati railway station: the Guwahati-New Lakhimpur Janshatabdi Express, New Bongaigaon-Guwahati passenger train, and Tinsukia-Naharlagun Express. Vaishnaw also reviewed the progress of the semiconductor plant being built by Tata Electronics, which is expected to start producing "Made in India" chips in 2026. These chips will be supplied to countries for the automobile and telecom industries, marking a significant development in Assam.
