K. Vijayanand, a 1992-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh. He replaces Neerabh Kumar Prasad, who retires on December 31, 2024. Vijayanand, currently serving as Special Chief Secretary in the Energy Department, will take office on the same day. He has vast experience in the energy sector and played a key role in Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy initiatives. His previous roles include managing APGENCO, APTRANSCO, and promoting IT and electronics in the state.
