The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has waived the 10% community contribution for the ‘Har Ghar Nal’ scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission, relieving villagers from financial burden. Previously, villagers had to pay 10% of the cost for household tap water connections. The state allocated ₹2,000 crore in this year’s budget to cover the ₹9,092.42 crore contribution, benefiting 2.33 crore families. A total of 40,951 schemes worth ₹1.52 lakh crore have been approved, with costs shared equally by the Centre and state.
