Samarthak, the first of four Make-in-India Multi-Purpose Vessels, will be commissioned into the Indian Navy at Karwar on October 16. Built by a private firm, the ship is designed for maritime surveillance, patrol, low-intensity operations, unmanned-system support, HADR, limited hospital conversion and salvage. Its indigenous sensors, weapons and combat suite enhance regional maritime capabilities.
