India Conducts First Ganges River Dolphin Tagging in Assam

India has conducted its first-ever Ganges River Dolphin tagging in Assam, led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) with support from the Wildlife Institute of India, Assam Forest Department, and Aaranyak. The tagging of a healthy male dolphin will help scientists understand its migratory patterns, habitat, and distribution. This initiative is part of Project Dolphin, aimed at protecting India's National Aquatic Animal and improving conservation efforts for the species, which is vital for the river ecosystem.
