On October 16, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order temporarily waiving specified sanctions, restrictions and tariffs under the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The law had authorised up to 100% duties on major buyers of Russian energy, including India. The waiver provides relief but is temporary and may be revisited by the administration.
