US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a US-India trade deal is close to finalisation while visiting Samarkand. Rubio, en route to Mumbai and Jamnagar, noted sanctions waivers were used to manage global energy supplies and prices. He said the administration will study tariffs and waivers carefully, considering strategic ties, energy needs and evolving geopolitical risks.
