Ladakh has launched a pilot saffron cultivation project, planting about 90,000 Iranian saffron corms across 4,000 square meters at Spituk Pharka, Leh, to test the crop's suitability in the cold desert. The initiative aims to diversify agriculture, restore degraded land, and boost farmer incomes by introducing a high-value crop under Project Him Sarovar and LG Vinai Kumar Saxena's guidance.
