On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa river linking project at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This comes more than 23 years after the project was first proposed. The project is expected to help 4.4 million people in 10 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 2.1 million people in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh, both located in the water-scarce Bundelkhand region. It will also provide irrigation to around a million hectares of farmland.
