Piyush Goyal urged Japanese firms to source competitively priced, high-quality steel from India, noting India imposed a limited safeguard duty only on lower-grade steel. He said India is a net steel importer with scope to expand capacity, defended the safeguard measures as WTO-compliant, and asked firms to consult the DGTR on anti-dumping and safeguard issues while leading a business delegation to Japan.
