The BJP-led West Bengal government will introduce a bill in the Legislative Assembly to officially rename the state to 'Paschimbanga', Samik Bhattacharya said in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday. He cited historical figures and rejected names like 'Bangla' or 'Banga'. Earlier Trinamool had proposed renaming, and a prior assembly bill lacked central approval.
