Nepal is preparing a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere nomination for a Kangchenjunga Biosphere Reserve spanning about 25,080.8 km2 across eastern Nepal, Sikkim and West Bengal (India), and parts of Bhutan. Assessments on zonation, GIS, hydrology, and community participation continue; planners must align boundaries and management with how people and wildlife actually use the landscape.
