Actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has been appointed Advisor to West Bengal's Information and Cultural Affairs Department with a rank equivalent to a Cabinet Minister, effective immediately, the state government notified. The appointment, ordered by the Governor with approvals, will remain until further notice. Specific duties are yet to be disclosed; Chakraborty is expected to assume the role soon.
