Kanpur's Ordnance Equipment Factory has produced multipurpose military boots rated for minus 50°C, enabling soldiers to operate at altitudes up to 20,000 feet, including Siachen and Ladakh. Under Atmanirbhar Bharat, the factory secured a ₹40 crore Army order, supplying boots priced at ₹25,000, about half the cost of previously imported Italian models.
