The Basketball Federation of India will launch a national-level basketball league in January 2027, following the model of the IPL and professional kabaddi and football leagues. BFI president Aadhav Arjuna announced the plan while inaugurating the 51st Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship in Vijayawada. The eight-day tournament features 54 teams and around 641 players from 28 states.
