Shah Rukh Khan first noticed the sea-facing bungalow Mannat while shooting Yes Boss in 1997 and bought it in 2001 for Rs 13.01 crore. Lacking funds to rebuild and furnish the property, he turned to wife Gauri to design it after designer fees proved unaffordable. Over years they furnished Mannat gradually; the former Villa Vienna is now an iconic, high-value Mumbai landmark.
