Sawan Barwal’s marathon silver and Seema Kumari’s 10,000m bronze have ended Himachal Pradesh’s 40-year wait for an Asian Games athletics medal. The state last reached the athletics podium in 1986, when Suman Rawat won 3,000m bronze. With three medals already contributing to India’s tally and Seema still in the 5,000m event, Himachal’s campaign could grow further.
