A study in Guwahati recorded eight owl species and found urban noise significantly reduces researchers' ability to detect nocturnal birds. Owls were recorded in 24 of 33 surveyed grids; Barn Owl and Spotted Owlet were most common. Traffic and ambient sound lowered detection rates, prompting calls for noise-aware urban planning and long-term monitoring.
