Three major ports in Gujarat and Maharashtra have received the new “Mega Port” classification from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Deendayal Port in Kandla, Mundra Port and Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port are among four facilities recognised under the Indian Ports Act, 2025. The designation is aimed at improving operational efficiency, trade connectivity and India’s maritime infrastructure.
