Michel Arkhangelskiy has won Bahrain’s first-ever Asian Games swimming gold, taking the men’s 50m butterfly title in 22.91 seconds in Tokyo. The 21-year-old, whose family fled Russia as political refugees, had been unable to represent either Russia or France before choosing Bahrain. He matched his Asian record and delivered the Gulf nation its first swimming title at the Games.
