PhonePe has received in-principle approval from the Central Bank of the UAE for two operating licences, retail payment services and card schemes, and stored value facilities, marking its first international expansion. The firm will pursue final approvals before launching commercial operations, seek partnerships with regional banks and payment providers, and explore supporting UAE domestic payment rails using its full-stack technology platform.
