Bengali film actor Rukmini “Koyel” Mallick joined the BJP a day after the party nominated her for the Rajya Sabha elections. Daughter of actor Ranjit Mallick, she previously served briefly as a TMC Rajya Sabha MP before resigning after the assembly election defeat. The BJP said she will file her nomination; polls for 12 seats occur October 16.
