The government is expanding Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana while addressing crop output, farmer welfare, edible oil prices and stubble-burning pollution. PMFBY and Weather-Based schemes cover all 20 Jammu and Kashmir districts, protecting over 1.28 million farmers with ₹221.71 crore disbursed. Officials say El Niño has not uniformly reduced yields and any import duty cuts will balance farmers’ and consumers’ interests.
