Ethiopia Plans $840 Million in Dollar Auctions as It Moves to Manage Foreign Currency

Ethiopia will sell US$840 million in six dollar auctions from 13 October to 22 December, offering US$140 million per round to ease a persistent dollar shortage. The National Bank says these sales are a temporary bridge while banks strengthen dollar supply; results will reveal market demand and affect importers, investors and the exchange rate dynamics.
