Indian chess star Divya Deshmukh has been named Best Female Chess Player at the inaugural FIDE Excellence Awards after a standout year highlighted by her Women’s World Cup victory. India also won the Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy for the third consecutive Olympiad, while its Open and Women’s teams earned silver and bronze respectively. The All India Chess Federation finished third in the Best Federation category.
