The Central Consumer Protection Authority fined Amazon and Flipkart Rs 10 lakh each and JioMart Rs 5 lakh for selling and advertising an unregistered product named 'Cyclosinone Herbicide'. It ordered immediate removal, self-audits and compliance reports within 15 days. The probe, prompted by the Agriculture Ministry and CCFI, found no registered chemical by that name and faulted marketplaces for inadequate verification and neglecting statutory compliance.
