Cumbria Wildlife Trust urges Bonfire Night celebrants to check bonfires for hedgehogs, amphibians and invertebrates before lighting and to build fires only on the day they will be lit. Use gloves to move any hedgehogs into a dry box, and prefer organised events and low-noise fireworks set away from trees and hedgerows to reduce wildlife disturbance.
