In a close contest during the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) won the Worli seat in south Mumbai, defeating Milind Deora, who recently joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Aaditya’s victory margin was 8,801 votes, much smaller than his 2019 win by over 67,000 votes. Worli, part of Mumbai (South) Lok Sabha constituency, has been a stronghold of the Deora family. Milind Deora previously served as Congress MP, following his father Murli Deora’s legacy.
