Data from the Software Freedom Law Centre shows Delhi led India with eight internet shutdowns in 2026, mainly during two waves: NEET-related suspensions in Central Delhi in July and wider outages across Bawana, Nangloi, Nizampur and Daulatpur in October amid protests over the Election Commissioner's resignation. India recorded 32 shutdowns by October 10, 2026, down from 65 in 2025.
