Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, represented India at the 24th BIMSTEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) held virtually by Thailand on 19 December 2024. The meeting reviewed BIMSTEC's progress since March 2023 and discussed key areas of cooperation such as sustainable development, connectivity, security, and people-to-people exchanges. Several action plans and new cooperation mechanisms were finalized. The Indian delegation reaffirmed India's strong commitment to BIMSTEC and its vision for a prosperous region.
