Surendra Singh Choudhary, known as Bittu Tabahi, independently cleaned plastic, algae and other rubbish from the polluted Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh. Viral videos drew attention and led Boyan Slat, founder of Netherlands-based The Ocean Cleanup, to offer him a job, responding 'Come work for us.' Choudhary began the initiative in January and reportedly spent about ₹30,000 on the effort.
