Nobel-winning chemist Omar Yaghi and his company Atoco developed a container-sized device that extracts drinking water from air using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The low-power unit can produce up to 1,000 liters daily, potentially aiding drought-hit and island communities. Atoco plans Mojave Desert trials; durability, outdoor performance, and cost remain to be proven.
