Chandigarh’s Sukhna Wetland has been added to the Ramsar List as Site No. 2602, highlighting its international importance. Spanning about 565 acres at the Outer Himalayas' foothills, it supports resident and migratory waterbirds via the Central Asian Flyway and hosts threatened species. The designation raises conservation responsibilities amid challenges like siltation, catchment erosion and invasive species.
