The Nagpur Forest Division is deploying a cost-effective bio-fencing model using thorny bamboo (Bambusa bambos) and double trenches across five Parseoni taluka villages to prevent wildlife entering settlements. The approach reduces electrocution risks from chain or solar fences, stores monsoon water to boost groundwater, aids wildlife monitoring amid rising tiger numbers, and lowers crop damage and human-animal conflicts.
