The Lok Sabha Secretariat has served notices to 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs, asking them to respond within seven days to disqualification petitions filed by Abhishek Banerjee under the anti-defection law. The notices forwarded Banerjee’s June 18 petition alleging they joined the NCPI. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Banerjee’s plea seeking expeditious disposal of the disqualification proceedings.
