Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were forcibly removed and detained after staging a sit-in near the Shangri-La hotel in central Delhi while attempting to reach Jantar Mantar. Several other opposition MPs were also detained and later released. Opposition leaders condemned the police handling and vowed to continue protests demanding the Election Commission chief's resignation.
