Human Rights Watch says Indian authorities used abusive force and arbitrary detentions against thousands of peaceful protesters in New Delhi and other cities over a disputed voter list revision and alleged election misconduct. Security forces beat, detained journalists and protesters, suspended mobile internet and restricted movement. HRW urged the government to stop abuses, restore services, and engage with protesters.
