Phase 2 Trial Advances First Targeted Dengue Treatment

An experimental monoclonal antibody, Dengue-mAb from Serum Institute, cut viremia and sped fever clearance in a Phase 2 trial of 250 adults in India when given as a single intravenous infusion within 48 hours of fever onset. It was generally well tolerated, but has not yet been shown to prevent severe dengue; larger Phase 3 trials are needed to confirm safety and clinical benefit.
