A baby Sumatran orangutan rescued in November 2024 has been repatriated from India to Indonesia after coordinated action by Indian wildlife agencies and CITES authorities. Seized from a Mumbai apartment alongside reptiles, it flew from Gujarat to Medan on October 19, received Indian veterinary care, and India waived historic care costs. Five more rescued orangutans await repatriation.
