Scientists in Uttar Pradesh have developed four new sugarcane varieties designed to offer better resistance to red rot disease while supporting higher yields. Among them, CoS.23232 recorded an average yield of 95.56 tonnes per hectare in field trials, around 10% higher than the existing variety. All four varieties have now been approved for cultivation in the state, offering farmers new options for healthier and more productive sugarcane farming.
