NASA's Perseverance rover has driven 45.2 km on Mars, the greatest distance by any vehicle off Earth, surpassing Opportunity. Operating mostly autonomously, it explores Jezero Crater for evidence of past microbial life and found a possible biosignature in ancient river-channel rock. Mission systems remain healthy and may operate well into the 2030s as mobility testing continues.
