Maharashtra will impose a minimum 10% water cut across urban areas from October 16 after deficient rainfall and the expected impact of El Niño. The measure will remain in place until August 31, 2027, with the government prioritising drinking water, livestock and fodder needs. Irrigation supplies will be allocated only after these requirements are met, while authorities will also target water leakage.
