Maharashtra may face greater drought-related stress from January-February 2027, according to MITRA Vice Chairman Ranajagjitsinha Patil. He said around 7% of surface water remains and authorities are focusing on drinking water, fodder and farmer employment. The state has also ordered crop damage assessments and approved restructuring of short-term Kharif 2026 crop loans in drought-affected talukas.
