Kazi Nazrul Islam's Agomoni songs, central to Nazrulgeeti, welcome goddess Durga each autumn while conveying social and cultural messages beyond devotion. Once a key Bengali intellectual, Nazrul’s legacy faded in India even as Bangladesh named him national poet. His syncretic work champions Hindu-Muslim unity, challenges social evils, and links devotional celebration with calls for justice and solidarity.
