Varanasi will celebrate Dev Deepawali on November 24 with over 1.1 million earthen lamps, including about 100,000 made from cow dung, illuminating the Ganga ghats, ponds and kunds. The tourism department plans special cleaning, facade lighting, a laser show and green fireworks, preceded by Ganga Mahotsav from November 20, 23, highlighting the city’s religious and cultural heritage.
