Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Union Cabinet-approved Khelo India Sports Goods Manufacturing Scheme will boost domestic production, create jobs, lower import dependence and expand exports. With a Rs 1,857 crore outlay and expected Rs 6,800 crore investment, the scheme will establish Sports Goods Manufacturing Zones, support MSMEs, and promote research, innovation and skill development.
