Gujarat will honour Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar with the Vishisht Gujarat Garima Award for his actions during a cockpit attack on a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight. Machchhar was injured after an alleged confrontation with his co-pilot but helped open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to intervene before the aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia. The state has also announced a ₹25 lakh reward.
