India’s first LNG-powered train has been flagged off from Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad, marking a new step in cleaner rail travel. The dual-fuel train can replace nearly 40% of its diesel use with LNG, potentially cutting emissions and fuel costs. The launch was part of ₹1,472 crore worth of railway projects unveiled in Gujarat, including a new locomotive maintenance shed and Kavach safety upgrades.
