Six South Indian foods, Tirupati Laddu, Hyderabadi Haleem, Ooty Varkey, Central Travancore Jaggery, Dharwad Pedha, and Srivilliputtur Palkova, have received Geographical Indication tags. These GI recognitions link each specialty to its regional origin, protect traditional production knowledge and communities, and acknowledge unique flavours and cultural significance tied to specific towns and districts.
