Conservation efforts in Himachal Pradesh have raised survival of reintroduced Cheer Pheasants from 11.11% (2019, 20) to 100% (2024, 25). The Khadiyun Breeding Centre in Chail released birds near Koti, Shimla, using VHF transmitters and camera traps to monitor adaptation. Habitat loss from grassland fires threatens the Vulnerable species, and the centre emphasizes parent-rearing and careful, monitored releases.
